My name is Damon Barnes, and I am a second-generation graduate of LaRue County High School. After high school, I moved away for college and later lived in Elizabethtown, but I maintained strong ties to LaRue County, including returning to coach youth wrestling.
In early 2020, my late wife, Lori, and I purchased property in LaRue County with plans to build our forever home. Later that year, we were able to move back to LaRue County, a community that has always meant a great deal to me. Today, I’m proud to call LaRue County home, where I live with my wife, Rachel, our kids, our dogs, and a growing menagerie of animals.
Since returning, I have worked to make a positive impact in LaRue County through volunteer service and community projects. I am the founder, former president, and a current board member of Knob Creek Conservancy, an organization focused on creating and improving outdoor and recreational opportunities in our community. That work has included projects such as the McDougal Lake Trail system. I also currently serve on the Hodgenville Tourism Commission and have continued to volunteer my time in youth sports and other community efforts.
Professionally, I have built a career in financial technology and data, giving me extensive experience in problem-solving, budgeting, technology, project management, and using data to make better decisions.
I love LaRue County and believe strongly in its future. I understand the responsibilities of Fiscal Court and believe county government should be thoughtful with taxpayer dollars, transparent in its decisions, and focused on both protecting what makes LaRue County special and preparing our community for the future.
With my professional experience, community involvement, and a record of helping turn ideas into action, I hope to earn the opportunity to serve as your 2nd District Magistrate.
